If there’s one thing we love in this house, it’s pyjamas! And I’m not ashamed to admit that we have days, far too many of late, when we like to stay in them all day! Although the girls have had some lovely fleece pyjamas over the Winter months, the last few weeks they have been waking up and stripping off, and so this review coincided quite nicely with us being on the look out for new Summer pyjamas.
When the girls pyjamas arrived from Minene I was so impressed with the packaging. Gift packaged in an organza gift bag I instantly got the impression of good quality and something that little bit extra special that would make the perfect gift.
We received these floral Summer pyjamas which are so pretty and available in sizes 2-8 years.
Both the top and the bottom have the Minene tag on the outside, which adds a little designer touch.
The girls couldn’t wait to get their pyjamas on last night, with both Eva and Megan commenting that they were lovely and soft. Made from 100% pure cotton I completely agree, they feel so fresh and airy, and you can almost feel that they will wash beautifully.
I love that the pyjama tops have short sleeves, which are perfect for the Summer, and that the pyjama bottoms are cuffed so they don’t ride up in the same way when the girls are in bed. You’d be amazed how a pyjama leg riding up can be classed as an emergency at three in the morning when Megan is screaming the house down!!
Priced at £16 the pyjamas are a little more expensive than some other brands and yet they are also far better quality. I will most definitely be buying the girls another pair for the Summer months, and I already have my eye on these unicorn ones!
Minene’s colourful, padded, portable activity blankets with storage bag are essential accessories for picnics and daytrips.
We have 3 brand new designs for this Spring / Summer!
The surface of the blanket is made from 100% cotton canvas and comes with two toys attached. The underside is made from water resistant polyurethane, making it ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
I’ve spoken a couple of times about chores for children, and I have a whole video chatting about it on our YouTube channel coming soon (will replace with a link once it goes live!) the girls, 4 and 3 are now at an age where they can start helping to keep their room a little tidier, one way we have been encouraging this is with this funky new laundry basket from Minene.
The Minene laundry basket (£32)
comes in 6 different designs, from a cute pale pink to a funky monochrome chevron. As the girls bedroom is currently deep plum and grey (it used to be our bedroom an we haven’t gotten round to decorating!) the grey chevron was the perfect choice for us. Made from cotton the basket has built in handles for easy transport and is lightweight, durable and practical. This is the perfect accessory to brighten up any room and has the added bonus that it folds flat when not in use…not that there is ever an empty wash basket in this house!
Now my girls love to get themselves changed about a thousand times a day so when I popped this in their room they got straight to work filling it with the random clothes they found dotted around the bedroom, hiding in toy boxes, squashed in between books on the book shelf, tucked into the end of the bed…you know the usual hiding places!
The laundry hamper fits in perfectly in their bedroom and looks great too. We have had it for a week now and as of yet, I haven’t found any clothes in places they shouldn’t be! It really has encouraged the girls to keep their room tidy…although it wouldn’t be a child’s room with a teddy or 2 on the floor right!
We were sent this product in return for an honest review.
When we moved into our house I was pregnant with Archie and we were quite sure that he was our last baby. We chose a three bedroom house that we thought would see us through the next few years. Finn was a surprise and Cora even more so and suddenly with six of us in a four bedroom house space is quite tight. I don’t fancy moving with four so little so we are finding ways to make the most of our space for now.
Cora is still sleeping in with us and we don’t have a real long term plan beyond that. We may put the three boys in one room and our baby girl in another, or we may put Cora in with Finn so there are two in each room. For now we are all happy where we are and we have created a small space for Cora in Finn’s room.
A girl needs somewhere to keep her clothes and Cora has a white chest of drawers as well as a few bits hanging in my wardrobe. Minene
kindly gave me some storage to help keep her corner neat so now all the little baby toys are kept in a lovely black and white basket and her bibs and socks are in the lidded soft box on top of her drawers.
Finn’s room is now triple purpose – it contains his cot, wardrobes and the nursing chair as well as Cora’s little corner and a desk as it is also our home office. For the smallest room in the house (bar our box of a kitchen) it is pretty busy!
Being a fourth baby has some definite advantages – a more relaxed Mama, adoring big brothers and more experienced parents, but it does mean you don’t get quite as much space of your own.

Fun Activities Children Love to do with Grandparents
All kids love a good treasure hunt, and scavenger hunts turn ordinary walks into adventures. Make a list for your grandchild—a red leaf, a Y-shaped twig, a feather—and start walking and collecting. Tip: Take a camera with you and have kids take a photo of something that begins with each letter of the alphabet.
Grab the baby books—not your grandchild’s, but their parents. There is nothing children like better than seeing their parent as peer (rather than the person who tells them to clean up their room and it’s time for bed). Talk about their mom or dad’s first step, first word, anything he or she did that was naughty or funny.
Whether it’s bridge, gin rummy or mah jongg, playing games you love with your grandkids opens them up to new experiences and shows them a piece of you and what hobbies you enjoy. What child doesn’t love competing against Grandma, or seeing Grandpa make mistakes?
Okay, the yum factor makes this an obvious winner, but the hidden benefits are important, too. Kids like to be included in grown-up activities, and cooking or baking is just that. But it is also about family traditions and history. So while your grandchild is measuring and stirring, you‘re teaching how to plan, follow instructions, and develop patience.

As we are in the process of decorating Minxy’s and Jamster’s bedrooms we’ve been on the look out for new furniture, beds and accessories to get some inspiration. I’m fairly clueless when it comes to things like design, I could certainly do with all the help I can get, and although the Mr is a handy man at heart he doesn’t have an eye for interiors either! I thought it would therefore be the best option to ask the Mini Mes exactly what they want and to just go with that. After all, I know how excited they are about having a more attractive space of their own and it makes them feel involved with the transformations.
Jamster is after a modern skater theme with cool graffiti style artwork whereas Minxy is seeking a more feminine and classic look with floral designs, floaty drapes and big fluffy cushions. Regardless of the style, we definitely need more storage for their belongings and Minene stepped in to help in that department. They sent us some pretty baskets to kick-start our projects and these have already been very useful.
The smaller of the two is ideal for placing upon a table top or windowsill to store essentials like hair brushes, remote controls, DVDs, books, lip gloss etc for easy access, whereas the larger one can be used for laundry, bedding, toys or games. The strong handles make both easy to transport as and when required and Minxy loves the quilted look with flowers on the outside and the red polka dots inside for a nice contrast.
As a mum, I really appreciate the fact that these are machine washable so they can be kept clean at all times! If her friends are on the way over we can quickly scoop up anything laying around her room and throw it in to hide away which is useful, although thankfully she is naturally quite tidy.
There are matching boxes and cubes available so I think we might need to add those to our collection once her room is complete. It’s possible I will purchase the same in a different print for Jamster – he particularly likes the stars and grey chevron versions.
