REVIEW: MINENE PUSHCHAIR LINER

Review: Minene Pushchair Liner

Don’t you just hate when you end up with a collection of crumbs and fluff in your child’s pushchair or car seat? If you’re lucky, it’ll look something like this:

Crumbs in pushchair

At worst, you won’t want to touch that stuff without a pair of gloves. This is where the Minene pushchair liner comes in!

I recently procured the opportunity to try one for Autumn. I’m so excited that I won’t have to spend ages trying to scrub bits of biscuit off of her pushchair anymore, or have to work out how to get those little crumbs out of that crevice.

I’ll discuss designs a little further later, but as it’s October I’m getting very excited about Halloween! As such, I chose the black and grey ghost patterned liner:

Autumn’s pushchair is red and grey, so I thought it’d match well with it too.

UNIVERSAL

These pushchair liners are designed to be universal, allowing them to fit most pushchairs. They can also be used in car seats! As you can see from the picture below, they have plenty of slits in them to allow the harnesses of a variety of pushchairs and car seats to be pulled through.

It fitted my Quinny Zapp Xtra 2 very well, using the bottom slit and the second slits from the top.

As you can see from the back of the liner, there is also an elasticated band at the back:

MATERIAL

The pushchair liners are made of 100% cotton and feel fantastic quality. I thought it was going to be soft, but I didn’t realise quite how soft! The amount of padding feels as though it’ll make Autumn’s pushchair much more comfortable for her.

Perhaps best of all, it’s machine washable! Woohoo, no more scrubbing stubborn pieces of biscuit off (except for on the straps)!

The packaging also says that it’s azo free. I didn’t know what that meant, so I googled it. In a nutshell, it means that the dyes used are free of carcinogens (nasty potentially cancer causing chemicals). Well, that reassurance is what’s really the best thing about this product to me. I always worry about what my baby is exposed to.

NO MESS

As previously mentioned, I am pleased that I won’t have to worry about crumbs and scrubbing when it comes to the pushchair liner. If it’s just crumbs, I should be able to just brush them off. If it’s anything more, I can whip it off fairly quickly and pop it in the washing machine.

DESIGNS

One of the best things about pushchair liners is that they give your pushchair a new look! I took a photo of my daughter and shared it with a friend the other day and she actually thought I had a new pushchair! They’re pretty affordable too, so if you were that way inclined, you could get a couple and change them around.

At the time of writing, there are several patterned designs available on Minene’s website, some of which are reversible!

Patterned Minene pushchair liners

As much as I love my pushchair, I have been known to look longingly at patterned ones from time to time. However, this liner makes ours more interesting and I’m not so bothered anymore. By the way, if patterns aren’t your thing or you DO have a patterned pushchair and think the above liners would be a little too much, there are plain liners available too!

TEST DRIVE

We’ve been on a couple of test drives with our pushchair liner. You can see that with the design of my pushchair, it flares out a little but still looks great and very comfortable!

It looks like both of us are happy with it!

You can take a better look at it in this short video review I recorded:

Disclosure: I received a Minene pushchair liner in exchange for this review. As always, all views and opinions are honest and my own.

Pushchair liners – why are they such a good idea?

When Minene first launched  back in 2007 we had a small range of jersey cotton liners, about 4 or so. Through out the seasons we have seen the demand grow and grow and this SS15 season has seen the launch 50+ new sets including Reversible Liner and Safety Straps Sets, the Baby Car Seat Cover, Baby Car Seat Liner Sets, Jersey Liner snd Straps Sets and more!

With all the money we spend on fancy pushchairs and car seats, why is their such a large market for these accessories and what has changed in the market to help with their success. Over the next few weeks we will explore the different types of sets we do, the car seats and pushchairs they suit and don’t suit and the reasons for using them! If you have anything to add, or see yourself as a guru on the subject and would like to add your 10 cents worth – please feel free!

I thought we would start easy today, being day 1, and look at the original Jersey Liner and the pros and cons of this lovely little product!

The original of all liners, the jersey liner is made from a soft, stretch knit cotton, aka jersey cotton, and is a soft and comfortable fabric for baby to sit on. The liner itself has a polyester filling, about 1 cm thick, ensuring even more comfort for baby and often giving the pushchair or car seat a more even surface as baby doesn’t feel the lumps and bumps as much.

As well as padded comfort, the cotton liner ensures that baby is sitting on a clean and breathable surface. All of our liners are machine washable ensuring that babies with sensitive skin are sitting on a surface that will not irritate them AND if the inevitable spills happen it is easy to wash clean.

Our liners are designed to fit a majority of pushchairs and car seats on the market. A once simple 5 point design now features 10 universal slits to ensure it fits as many designs as possible. We often use Maclaren pushchairs in our images as the liners sit really well on them. Of late we have also been using the amazing Yo yo (so easy to assemble and you can take it as hand luggage on a plane!!) the liners looks gorgeous on the Yoyo and fits it perfectly. The main NO GO area for our liners is the Bugaboo as they have  vertical straps and we have more horizontal slits.

Our jersey cotton liners are currently available in 5 colours including baby blue, baby pink, grey, red, fuchsia and we have a 6th colour launching in June!

Minene’s jersey liners are a must have for this time of year especially as it still gives little ones a slightly warm and cosy lining when the sun fades behind the clouds. Comfort, warmth,  protection and padding – oh and did we mention it makes the pushchair look more stylish?!

The jersey cotton liner is priced at £18 and available here
